I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all that you have done to help me sort out the art works, antiques and collectables in my mothers’ estate. You have made sense by helping me sorting through what she had and explaining to me what things were of value and what weren’t. Your handling the sale of the less valuable or collectable items on eBay to which pieces might be better at one of the major auction houses has taken such a load off my shoulders. George Glastris has over 25 years experience in the auction and estates business. Originally from St. Louis, MO, George spent his early career working in London, England as a Specialist at Christie’s, Sotheby’s and Phillip’s auction houses, followed by five years as a Director at Skinner’s in Boston, MA. In 2004 he established Edison Gallery, a Chicago-based specialty auction company focused on antique science and technology with sales utilizing both live and online bidding. Over his career, he has developed expertise in a very wide variety of antiques and collectible fields. He is particularly knowledgeable and skilled at working with families to caringly and efficiently navigate the process of selling their personal possessions and valuables in a timely and transparent manner.
George teaches a New Trier Extension adult education class three times each year entitled “How Do I Sell My Stuff” (www.newtrier.k12.il.us/page.aspx?id=6954) , has appeared frequently on PBS’s Antiques Roadshow and is the author of Miller’s Collecting Science & Technology.
Thanks so much for your expertise and assistance in organizing and subsequent downsizing of the family house and belongings.
